Dual Icon for Mob Journal

My latest editorial for Mob Journal, titled "Dual Icons," was an amazing opportunity to capture the unique bond between sisters Meika and India Woollard. For this shoot, we wanted to explore the Yin Yang energy they share—the idea that they are two different individuals who perfectly balance each other out. As a London fashion photographer, it was a dream to bring this concept to life with such a talented team.

The Concept: Matching vs. Opposite Aesthetics

When I sat down with our stylist, Tom Pierello, we decided to play with two different visual directions.
  • Matching Sets: We created looks where the sisters had a matching aesthetic to show their deep connection and shared energy.
  • Opposite Sets: We also styled them in opposite aesthetics to highlight their individual personalities, much like the light and dark sides of a Yin Yang symbol.

The Technical Side: Lighting the Duo

To capture these contrasting moods, the lighting had to be perfect. My assistant, Mathias Apap, was essential in helping me manage the high-contrast lighting and digital setup. We used sharp shadows to create a dark avant-garde feel that made the textures of the clothing and the sisters' features pop.

The Creative Team

A shoot like this only works when the whole "glam" team is on the same page. Nadia Webber created the retro high-volume hair that gave the sisters a classic, powerful look. Meera Shah then matched that energy with bold makeup that tied the whole "maximalist" theme together. Seeing Meika and India work together was incredible; they have a natural chemistry that makes every frame feel authentic and cinematic.
